The Lace Guild Headquarters is situated in Stourbridge. The Lace Guild is the largest lace organisation in the United Kingdom and is an accredited museum with a large collection of lace and associated artefacts.
We are on the ‘crystal mile’ – within walking distance of the Red House Cone, the Stourbridge Glass Museum and the Ruskin Glasshouse visitors centre
We have an exhibition of Lace permanently in our exhibition room. It is changed every 3 months. If all volunteers would like to be part of welcoming visitors – particularly those that ‘pop in’ as they are passing. Our signage is so much better these days, people realise in the local area that we are a museum with a regularly changed exhibition!
Currently, The Lace Guild are looking for the following volunteers:
Garden volunteer.
We just need someone who likes weeding to keep the area tidy.
Second Hand Sales Volunteer.
The work involves sorting, labelling, and putting away the donated goods, including books. This may include some degree of stock control.
We would like volunteers to work with our established sale volunteers. They will give you an insight into what needs to be done.
They would also be working with our Sales staff member under her direction.
Social media Volunteer
To help with the day to day running of our social media platforms.
Assisting our webmaster with updating our website.
Library volunteer
The big task we have on at the moment is checking the book stock against our database. You would be working alongside an established volunteer. We do have a part time paid Librarian, who deals with the day to day running of the library.
Archive volunteer
If you are interested in assisting with our archivist, you could contact him directly. Christopher Evans – thelaceguild.secretary@gmail.com
