The purpose of the role as part of our Trans Advisory Group is to:
- Support our Trans Inclusion Project to co-develop and deliver a package of Trans Inclusion training, policy, and consultancy support, to mainstream organisations delivering services in the West Midlands.
- Attend meetings for the purposes of overseeing project development.
- Collaboratively input into Birmingham LGBT’s responses to government consultations.
- Feedback on development of Birmingham LGBT’s services.
Volunteer skills, knowledge, and experience desired:
- Good interpersonal, and good verbal/written communication skills
- Punctual and reliable
- Passionate about inclusion of trans people
- Knowledge of trans issues, particularly those relating to accessing services or in the workplace
- Experience of advocating for organisational change to benefit trans inclusion or inclusion of another protected group as defined by the Equality Act 2010.
- Experience working or volunteering on a committee, advisory group or similar
How long will the role last for?

Time Commitment:
Trans Advisory Group Meetings will be held every 2 months on a weekday evening, for 2-3 hours. Meeting agendas and any material that would need to be read through before these meetings will be sent at least 2 weeks in advance.
Aside from this, there will occasionally be circumstances (e.g., writing responses to announcements of government policy/ consultations) which will require a quick turnaround; in these cases, TAG members will be given the opportunity to have input via email ASAP, with the understanding that they may not have time to respond.
Would the role require specific training?
Basic training regarding use of Zoom and Committee skills will take place post recruitment.
Location:
Meetings will alternate between Zoom/online and in person at Birmingham LGBT Centre.
