Helping you to help others.

OPP OF THE DAY: Shared Lives Independent Panel Member, Camphill Village Trust Shared Lives

As an Independent Panel Member your role is to recommend the approval/de-approval/place restrictions on new and existing Shared Lives Carers. You have no legal responsibility, but you are there to advise the Registered Manager who will also attend Panel. Reports are sent to you by secure email at least two weeks before the Panel meeting. You then have time to prepare some questions you may wish to ask of the carers and assessor, which are directed by the Panel Chair. There is time set aside at the beginning of Panel for the members to discuss any concerns and there is also de-brief afterwards to share learning and thoughts with the Registered Manager.

Where:
We hold the Panel either at our office in Stourbridge, at Eagle House on the ring road, DY8 1HE or virtually via MS Teams/Zoom. We are also looking at extending our location base into venues across Wolverhampton City.

When:
We meet on average between 3-6 times annually.

Commitment/Duration:
Approx. half a day or less on some occasions, dependent on how many reports are presented.

Recommended skills:
We are looking for Panel members that may have experience of working in the social care/voluntary/local authority sector, or have/had a civic responsibility, and also has a genuine interest in the local community/neighbourhood. We are particularly interested to hear from anyone who is currently accessing or has in the past used support services from within Dudley Borough.
