OPP OF THE DAY: Companion Helper, Marie Curie

To visit and provide companionship and emotional support to someone who has had a terminal diagnosis and their loved ones. The support can include helping them to find further support, taking them out to give them a break from their four walls, providing some practical support to help them with tasks they are struggling with e.g. putting a duvet cover on; making phone calls etc., providing respite support to give the carer a break from their caring role.

Where:
In the community – visiting people in their own homes across Dudley.

When:
Flexible to suit you.

Commitment:
A minimum of 3 hours per week with a commitment of at least 12 months.

Skills:
A high level DBS Check will be necessary for this role. A good listener who wants to offer companionship and emotional support to someone with a terminal illness. A driver with their own transport would be advantageous but not necessary.
