Do you want to play your part and build confidence in your local community by sharing first aid skills? Are you looking for a flexible volunteering opportunity? Then join our team of Community Advocates and together we will build confident, more health resilient communities.
As a Community Advocate you will help to raise the profile of first aid within your local community by helping us raise awareness of the first aid message, through the delivery of short first aid awareness sessions. You will be a motivated individual who already has community connections in your local area and is confident talking about first aid to groups of people. You will be organised and have the ability to plan your own sessions, with availability to suit the community group and yourself.
Where:
Multiple venues across Dudley Council area, including Brierley Hill, Dudley, Halesowen, Sedgley, and Stourbridge.
When:
Flexible.
Commitment/Duration:
In this role, you would ideally be volunteering for at least two sessions per month (a total of 4 hours), plus travel time.
Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people
Ability to motivate, inspire and support others
Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a wide range of people
Enthusiasm for the work of St John Ambulance and the ability to model our values
Ability to work proactively and on own initiative, often alone
Ability to work as part of a team
Ability to volunteer flexibly and across geographically dispersed locations
Strong listening, compassion and empathy skills (desirable)
Strong planning and organisational skills (desirable)
Comfortable with Microsoft Office applications (desirable).
